WHAT IS MENTAL PERFORMANCE?
Mental Performance is the application of evidence-based techniques used to enhance the mental component of performance. A Mental Performance Consultant (MPC) is someone who has minimally obtained their masters in applied sport, performance, and/or exercise psychology. An MPC is an individual who specializes in the field and works with athletes, performers, business people, and/or everyday achievers to reach their optimal performance while improving the overall quality of life for their clients. Through the facilitation of mental performance skills, clients will be able to generally do the following:
Build awareness
Overcome obstacles
Excel in performance and life
WHAT AN MPC DOES
An MPC is someone who utilizes tools often referred to as mental skills in order to help their clients reach their full potential. An MPC will help their clients:
Build confidence
Overcome performance anxiety
Increase awareness
Improve concentration and focus
Implement pre-performance routines
Return to play after injuries
And Many More!
BUILD AWARENESS
An MPC’s starting point is building awareness. No matter what you are striving to achieve, creating awareness of where you are at helps you to determine what your current limitations are that stop you from reaching your peaks.
OVERCOME OBSTACLES
After building awareness and discovering what holds you back, implementing mental skills to help you overcome those limitations/obstacles is the next step for an MPC. Through the use of mental skills, you can then learn to elevate your performance.
ELEVATE YOUR PERFORMANCE
Once able to overcome your obstacles, you can then refine your mental skills to reach the next level of performance. This involves an evaluation of your current mental skills and fine-tuning them for optimization.
